This is the home of the GHAR GHAR ANDHAR DHARAMSAAL project initiated by the family of Giani Isher Singh Ji of Malaysia. The idea, concept, vision and mission behind this theme is to make the Shabad Guru, the the Guru's Word an intregral part in the homes of every Sikh family worldwide.
The vision which drives the sevadaars of this project is inspired by the passion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to spread the Divine Word, Dhur Ki Baani, to the home of every heart. Bhai Gurdaas Ji describes this vision and mission of Guru Nanak with the words "Ghar Ghar Andhar Dharamsaal, Hovai Keertan Sadhaa Visoaa". We have adopted these meaningful words as our theme for this project.
Towards this end, we have developed a search software which allows easy lookup of any Gurbani passage, along with the meaning in English as well as a transliteration (romanised text). The text content for this software has been obtained from Dr. Kulbir Singh Thind, to whom we are indeed very grateful. His work is available for download from his website, www.gurbanifiles.org
The English translation presented in this software is a modified version of Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa's work. These modifications have been carried out based on extensive research on other available translations, with Prof. Sahib Singh's Punjabi translation being used as a primary guide.

| In response to
numerous queries which we have received in the past, we would like to
clarify that before embarking upon this project, a study was made of the
available Gurbani Search softwares from various sources from around the
world. This study encompassed a whole spectrum of such softwares starting from the very pioneering work of Sardar Balwant Singh Uppal with his software 'GURU' dating back to 1993, to the very latest technologies showcased at SikhiToTheMax (www.sikhitothemax.com) utilising Microsoft.NET webservices which are set to revolutionise the way software is developed. The best of these ideas were then compiled and many new and innovative features were included in the compilation of ideas. Based on these ideas, with the grace of the Guru, a new software was then developed from scratch by the sevaadars behind this project. |
